This video was submitted to the "House is me" project by purespace.ist.

The Grammar of Space is an exploration of shapes and rhythm. The choreography, videography, and music was all created around preconceived rhythmic structures and we each choreographed each other's individual sections. The piece was recorded in our home studio, which we feel especially lucky to have during this time.

About the artist

Charly Santagado is a dancer and choreographer originally from Orlando, Florida currently living in Metuchen, New Jersey. In 2017, she graduated with highest honors from Rutgers University and founded a contemporary dance company, ~mignolo dance~ with her sister, Eriel Santagado. Her work has been shown extensively throughout the tri-state area as well as in Boston, Atlanta, and Israel.

Bailey Benoot is a movement artist and choreographer from Detroit, Michigan. She graduated summa cum laude in 2019 with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Creative Writing at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts. She has performed at Dixon Place, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Triskelion Arts, the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out stage, Judson Church, and the Kennedy Center among other venues.As a choreographer, she has premiered her work at Spoke the Hub’s Winter Follies showcase, the ACDA Northeast Conference, as well as various showcases at Mason Gross School of the Arts.
